They cause suffering because they\u2019re distressing, but they also have the function of misrepresenting the world to us \u2014 in other words, we\u2019re not in touch with reality.<br \/>\nWe will look at the Buddhist approach to how things exist, first conventionally \u2014 the view of karma, how the mind exists, how to develop compassion; and then ultimately \u2014 the view of dependent arising and emptiness.<\/p>\n<p>Getting in touch with reality is the method for achieving our own happiness and our ability to be of benefit to others.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Buddha says that the main source of our suffering is the delusions in our mind, such as attachment, anger, and the rest.
