Having a toolkit to encounter stress\, paint\, trauma\, childhood wounds or resistance of any kind is essential.\nThis course will introduce participants to a framework and practices that will help them meet blockages to their highest embodied potential through transformative mindfulness.\nThe 16 Guidelines are an indigenous set of embodied virtues that originate from Tibet. In their modern iteration they comprise a framework that can be universally accessed through our own experiences and inner wisdom. Laid out in 4 wisdom themes of how we Think\, Act\, Related and Create Meaning\, each corresponding 4 guidelines can be used to meet challenges and transform suffering.\nWith each good quality also comes the potential for a shadow to arise – something that resembles the qualities but is not (semblance)\, a misuse of the quality (unskillful) that is tainted by unclear motivation or malicious intention\, and the opposite of the quality (contra). Each of these shadow aspects has the potential to be transformed through introspection and healed by introducing wisdom and compassion.\nTransformative Mindfulness Methods provides the perfect framework to dive into transforming a specific shadow that may arise.\nIn this workshop\, participants will be encouraged to pick a specific quality with which they wish to have a deeper relationship. Qi gong är medvetna rörelser för att optimera energiflöde\, flexibilitet\, styrka\, andning och koordination i ett lugnt och meditativt tillstånd. Rörelserna är flödande och mjuka men effekten upplevs som kraftfull och stärkande för både rörelseapparaten och sinnet.\nI qi gong finner vi en dimension som ofta saknas i andra träningsformer där betoningen ligger mestadels på muskulaturen och fysisk struktur. Den dimensionen är medvetenheten\, alltså koncentrationen på den inre kraften förstärkt genom medveten andning.\nEn annan viktig aspekt i qi gong är att uppleva olika uttryck av energi i kroppen. Qi gong betyder ordagrant “energi-arbete”\, eller mer bildligt översatt: “att odla livsenergi”. Här har vi möjligheten att skapa och uppleva både subtil men även vibrerande och pulserande energi i våra muskler\, leder\, skelett\, bindväv samt kommunikationssystemet i form av våra energibanor.\nYour Teacher\nMaria har ett stort intresse för livets många vägar till välbefinnande. Esta serie está organizada por el Centro de Meditación Nagarjuna Alicante.\nEsta serie está estructurada en sesiones presenciales semanales de 1 hora todos los martes a las 7 pm hora local.\nSeiones abiertas a todas las personas interesadas. No es necesario tener conocimientos previos de budismo para participar y no es necesario inscribirse.\nEn estas sesiones de meditación practicaremos Samatha\, la técnica de calmar la mente de la agitación y preocupaciones que nos persiguen en nuestro día a día. DESCRIPTION:In-Depth Meditation Course for Experienced Practitioners: Year 2 Term 2 (February – April 2025)In a world that often dismisses its significance\, the mind remains mysteriously at the heart of what we call life. Founded by the brothers Vasubandhu and Asanga\, the Buddhist Yogācāra school focusses on the mind as ‘forerunner of all things’\, the creator of our experience\, and the storyteller that narrates our existence. Yogācāra’s analysis of how the mind constructs our reality\, can help us relieve the constraints of the ego\, habitual patterns and reactive emotions\, to experience greater ease\, possibility\, and freedom in every moment.\nIn the second year of the IDMT\, we will emphasize the lived experience of meditation\, both on and off the cushion. Guided by the Buddha’s third turning of the Wheel of Dharma\, we will begin by training in the successive stages of shamatha\, followed by a deeper journey into insight meditation. We will also explore how concepts can blind and alienate us by adding an imaginary layer to our interdependent world. Using spiritual developmental models such as the 37 Factors of Awakening and the 10 Perfections\, we will learn how to live more freely in daily life. We will also explore the role of narratives\, the philosophy of language\, and how to cultivate great compassion for all living beings to help heal our conflicted world.\nVenerable Losang Gendun has dedicated nearly four decades to practicing Buddhism and has served as a Bhikshu (Buddhist monk) in the Tibetan tradition for the past 18 years. Prior to his ordination\, he worked in diverse fields such as palliative care\, technology\, refugee organizations\, and commercial management. His extensive training includes ten years of studying Buddhist philosophy and practice in monasteries across France\, India\, Nepal\, and Myanmar. Additionally\, he spent over four years in retreat\, immersing himself in Tibetan sutra and tantra\, as well as the Burmese Theravada Forest Tradition. For the last 15 years\, Ven. Gendun has been a dedicated teacher\, sharing his knowledge of Buddhist philosophy\, psychology\, and meditation worldwide. He serves the aspirations of H.H. the Dalai Lama and Lama Zopa Rinpoche as part of the FPMT (Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition). Ven. Gendun is also a member of Mind & Life Europe\, a multidisciplinary laboratory that brings together researchers and contemplative practitioners to explore the nature of experience. Beyond his Buddhist affiliations\, Ven. Gendun serves as an interreligious canon at the Peace Cathedral in Tbilisi\, Georgia\, and feels at home at a Mevlavi Sufi dargah in Istanbul. In 2023\, he founded The Buddha Project\, which engages in long-term guidance for Buddhist meditators\, scientific research\, art projects\, and intercontemplative social engagement.\nThe Buddha Project\nThis meditation course is part of The Buddha Project led by Ven. Losang Gendun\, a branch of which is the Buddha Research Project\, an on-going collaboration between Buddhist contemplatives and scientific researchers from the universities of Nîmes and Lausanne\, and the Mind & Life organization (founded by neuroscientist Francesco Varela in collaboration with H.H. the Dalai Lama). It is aimed at investigating transformative processes in long-term meditators\, regarding such topics as mental health\, perception\, and self-transcendence. For the initial research it has been granted a European Varela Award.\nIntroduction of the IDMT training\nMeditation is essential for personal transformation and a crucial complement to Buddhist studies. This 4-year online course provides students with long term\, in-depth support in their meditative development. This weekly course will offer:\nAuthentic traditional instructions\, in contemporary language\, aimed at providing a comprehensive set of meditation tools for students to transform their knowledge of the Dharma into personal experience.\nTraditional and modern theories on supplementary topics such as models of healthy psychological and spiritual development\, ritual\, narrative\, ethics\, and social engagement.\nAn international community of meditators\, online and live.\nTo complement the IDMT course we will also offer:\nMeditation Retreats – week & weekend retreats on vipassana\, compassion\, and mahamudra\, offered both at the centers and online.\nYogi Bootcamp – an intensive\, guided\, 1-year meditation training with weekly personal interviews (call) for a small group of international students.\nPractice days guided by Ven. Gendun and experienced students of Ven. True happiness is based on peace.” ― Thich Nhat Hanh\nAbout the Sessions\nJoin us on Sunday morning for an hour to pause\, center\, and restore to a happier and more peaceful mind to support you in being a bit more resilient in a world which does not always make sense anymore. These guided meditations are to help you calm your mind\, explore your own nature and develop a more peaceful perception on life. When you are well with yourself\, you will be more able to be well with others and the world.\nThese meditations are very practical\, they are not within a religious context\, so they are suitable for people of different beliefs\, ages and abilities\, for beginners as well as for those with more experience.\nRegistrations are not required.\nWhat are the meditations based on?\nThey are based on a set of values and principles aimed at helping individuals cultivate a more peaceful and meaningful life. They are divided into four categories:\nhow we think (humility\, patience\, contentment and delight)\nhow we act (kindness\, honesty\, generosity and right speech)\nhow we relate to others (respect\, forgiveness\, gratitude and loyalty)\nhow we find meaning (aspiration\, principles\, service and courage).\nThese guidelines provide a framework for personal growth\, encouraging individuals to think\, act\, relate\, and find meaning in ways that foster a harmonious and fulfilling life.\nHow to Join\nThe sessions are offered online:\nTIME: 10.00 – 11.00 am CE(S)T\,\nDATES: Sundays from 19th January – 4th May 2025\nONLINE: Join Zoom here – Passcode: 353076\nThe meditations are freely offered but if you would like to make to support Maitreya Institute\, please make a donation using this link . Please send us an email if you would like to join us to get access to the recordings.\nWhy meditate?\nWhen you control your mind with wisdom you create the space you need to discover peace and joy. Your life then becomes peaceful and joyful and somewhat protected from the ups and downs of the external world. For beginner to advanced meditators.\nFacilitator\nVen. Gönpo is an accredited FDCW facilitator and a Buddhist monk based in Australia. He discovered Buddhism as a child through martial arts movies and TV shows\, this was the inspiration for the childhood dream of becoming a wandering kung fu monk. It was a few decades before part of that dream could be realized with many other life adventures distracting him from the spiritual path in his teens and twenties.\nIt wasn’t until he was in his thirties that Gönpo began to really understand the power of Buddhist teachings when he used them to navigate the emotional roller-coaster of life’s many experiences such as a marriage break down and raising children alone. Fortunately\, due the kindness of his teachers and great good karma\, after his children finished school\, Gönpo was able to fulfil the long-held dream of becoming a monk\, albeit without the kung fu. Ending a 20-year career as a high school teacher of languages\, he become a wandering monk spending time studying and meditating in Europe\, India and Nepal before returning to his hometown\, Brisbane\, to take up the role of Spiritual Care Practitioner at Karuna Hospice Services\, giving care and support to people with life limiting illnesses and their families.\nIn his time as a school teacher\, it was the feedback from students around mindfulness practices and life lessons that had the biggest impact on Gönpo\, motivating him to become a 16 Guidelines for a Happy Life facilitator. In his sessions\, Gönpo encourages discussion and deep engagement in the topics\, challenging participants to examine their own ways of thinking. Through understanding how we are now\, we are better equipped to develop the habits that will bring us closer to how we want to be\, interacting with our own minds and the people around us in ways that will make us and the communities we live in\, happier and healthier.\nMore info\nFor more information please visit the Maitreya Institute website

DESCRIPTION:Events for March 2025 – Jamyang London Buddhist CentreWhat is Sound Meditation?\nDuring the group Sound Meditation\, Craig and his array of sound tools will take you on a relaxing\, restorative\, nourishing sonic journey.\nThis is a group Sound Meditation session using Metal Himalayan Singing Bowls\, Crystal bowls\, the Gong\, Chimes and the Handpan.\nCraig’s Group Sound Meditations utilise the strengths of many instruments and sound tools to create calm\, safe and welcoming spaces for all to relax in. You will be guided to a restful and restorative state by the sounds of Himalayan singing bowls\, crystal singing bowls\, the Gong\, chimes and kalimbas – and not to forget\, the beautiful sounds of the Handpan.\nThe benefit of the Sound Meditation\nStimulating frequencies create sympathetic reactions that allow us to clear blockages\, whether emotional\, mental or physical. Work with such sound tools can be detoxing\, balancing\, de-stressing and uplifting. You are free to drift away to wherever the sound may take you.\nHow can I join the Sound Meditation session?\nThis is an in-person session held in the main temple at Jamyang London Buddhist Centre.\nYou might like to bring a small cushion / pillow to rest your head on and while mats are provided\, you are welcome to bring your own yoga mat should you prefer.
