DESCRIPTION:Events for June 2025 – Jamyang London Buddhist CentreAre you recently bereaved and wish you could chat or just listen openly in a group with no set agenda with those who have had similar experiences? Come along for tea and cake.\nAlthough the café is held in a Buddhist centre it is a secular get together.\nFacilitators\nVenerable Barbara Shannon\, is a fully ordained nun\, former NHS nurse\, and a long-standing member of the Jamyang Buddhist Centre London. She is actively engaged in the local London communities helping people with issues around death and dying. She regularly leads the Death Cafe at Centre\, with her unique and engaging style of presenting.\nDiana Opio\, as a trained nurse has been working in palliative care for several decades. She has also helped set up and run palliative care academic programmes in East Africa. More recently she has become increasingly interested in aspects of spirituality at the end of life and has trained as a soul midwife and has run many death cafes.\nPlease note:\nBereavement Café is a space for open and confidential discussion. It is not a counselling or support service. If you are recently bereaved and are seeking professional support\, please contact your GP or a relevant service for advice\, such as Cruse Bereavement Care.\nHow to join?\nThe space is limited\, so we suggest saving your spot ahead of time. Save your spot here. Alternatively\, you can just drop-in.\nThe event is free. Donations are welcome in support of running the Bereavement Café.

Explorer cette facette\, c’est accéder aux valeurs universelles en examinant leur opposé. En reconnaissant et en accueillant ces parts d’ombre présentes en chacun de nous\, nous amorçons un processus de guérison qui nous permet de retrouver notre intégrité et de transformer les énergies néfastes en forces positives.\nCe que vous allez apprendre :\n– Identifier les défis rencontrés dans votre pratique de la pleine conscience et transformer les réactions automatiques qui génèrent stress et tensions.\n– Comprendre les fondements philosophiques des 16 Attitudes et les quatre thèmes de sagesse qui les structurent.\n– Intégrer et appliquer ces outils dans votre quotidien pour faire face aux situations réelles avec plus de conscience et de sérénité.\n– Créer du lien avec d’autres participants\, s’engager dans une communauté bienveillante et partager expériences et apprentissages.\nLe Niveau 3 pour approfondir et devenir facilitateur du programme sera donné en fin d’année.\nTarif: 80€.\nCette participation sera à régler directement à l’animatrice. DESCRIPTION:Events for May 2025 – Jamyang London Buddhist CentreAbout this event\nAt a Death Cafe people\, often strangers\, gather to eat cake\, drink tea and discuss death.\nOur objective is ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’.\nA Death Cafe is a group-directed discussion of death with no agenda\, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session.\nDeath Cafe was founded by Jon Underwood\, a beloved student at Jamyang Buddhist Centre London and a pioneer in opening up the conversation about death.\nEvent Format\nIt is a group-directed discussion with no agenda or theme.\nIt is a secular experience.\nIn an accessible\, respectful\, and confidential space.\nWith no intention of leading people to any conclusion\, outcome or course of action.\nIt is a discussion group rather than a grief support or a counselling session.\nFacilitators\nVenerable Barbara Shannon\, is a fully ordained nun\, former NHS nurse\, and a long-standing member of the Jamyang Buddhist Centre London. She is actively engaged in the local London communities helping people with issues around death and dying. She regularly leads the Death Cafe at Centre\, with her unique and engaging style of presenting.\nDiana Opio\, as a trained nurse has been working in palliative care for several decades. She has also helped set up and run palliative care academic programmes in East Africa. More recently she has become increasingly interested in aspects of spirituality at the end of life and has trained as a soul midwife and has run many death cafes.\nPlease note:\nDeath Cafe is space for open and confidential discussion. It is not a bereavement counselling or support service. If you are recently bereaved and are seeking professional support\, please contact your GP or a relevant service for advice\, such as Cruse Bereavement Care.\nHow to join?\nThe space is limited\, so we suggest saving your spot ahead of time. DESCRIPTION:Events for February 2025 – Jamyang London Buddhist CentreAre you recently bereaved and wish you could chat or just listen openly in a group with no set agenda with those who have had similar experiences? Come along for tea and cake.\nAlthough the café is held in a Buddhist centre it is a secular get together.\nFacilitators\nVenerable Barbara Shannon\, is a fully ordained nun\, former NHS nurse\, and a long-standing member of the Jamyang Buddhist Centre London. She is actively engaged in the local London communities helping people with issues around death and dying. She regularly leads the Death Cafe at Centre\, with her unique and engaging style of presenting.\nDiana Opio\, as a trained nurse has been working in palliative care for several decades. She has also helped set up and run palliative care academic programmes in East Africa. More recently she has become increasingly interested in aspects of spirituality at the end of life and has trained as a soul midwife and has run many death cafes.\nPlease note:\nBereavement Café is a space for open and confidential discussion. It is not a counselling or support service. If you are recently bereaved and are seeking professional support\, please contact your GP or a relevant service for advice\, such as Cruse Bereavement Care.\nHow to join?\nThe space is limited\, so we suggest saving your spot ahead of time. Save your spot here. Alternatively\, you can just drop-in.\nThe event is free. Donations are welcome in support of running the Bereavement Café.
