DESCRIPTION:His Holiness Long Life ~ Mani Mantra Recitation InitiativeTrusting this finds you all very well.\nYou are warmly invited to join the FPMT community in this very special His Holiness Long Life ~ Mani Mantra Recitation Initiative\, where students are invited to recite the Om Mani Padme Hum mantra. The total of all the recitations will be offered to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama on the 6th of July for his 90th birthday.\nThe motivation of this initiative is to offer these mantras for His Holiness long\, healthy and stable life\, for the fulfillment of all His projects\, for world peace/universal compassion and to fulfill Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s wishes by offering our practices to His Holiness.\nThis initiative will be launched for Losar\, which this year falls on the 28th of February\, so you can start tracking your recitations from the 1st of March.\nTo join\, it’s very easy\, just write your name and at the end of each month write your total monthly mantra recitations in this spreadsheet\, this spreadsheet can be accessed from computers only\, not phones.\nPlease write the total of mantras you recite each month. For example if you recite one mala per day in March\, (if your mala has 108 beads) that would in total be 108 x 31 = 3 348\, then write 3 348 in the March column beside your name\, if you continue with your recitations\, do similar for the following months. You can join one\, two\, three or all four months. Make sure that by the 30th of July you have written down the total of your mantra recitations. Whatever you can is of great value!!!!\nThank you so very much!!!\nYeshin Norbu Team

SUMMARY:The 4 Noble Truths & Their 16 Characteristics - Yeshin Norbu
DESCRIPTION:The 4 Noble Truths & Their 16 CharacteristicsThe 4 Noble Truths & Their 16 Characteristics\nThis in-depth intermediate level course will deepen your understanding of the Four Noble Truths and their 16 characteristics. The Four Noble Truths are the foundational teachings of Buddhism\, offering profound insight into the nature of suffering\, its causes and the path to liberation.\nCourse Details\nAbout This Course\nThe course will offer a comprehensive exploration of these core teachings\, guiding you through their profound implications for both personal transformation and spiritual practice. Learning the Four Noble Truths can offer a range of profound benefits that can transform your approach to life and spiritual practice\, such as:\nClarity on the nature of suffering: By gaining insight into why suffering arises\, you can begin to release attachment to things that are impermanent and avoid unnecessary suffering in your life.\nPath to liberation: Learning this path helps you cultivate ethical conduct\, mental discipline\, and wisdom\, fostering a life of greater peace and fulfillment.\nDeepened compassion & wisdom: By understanding the interconnectedness of all beings and the causes of suffering\, you naturally develop greater compassion and empathy. The teachings also lead to wisdom by showing you how to see things as they truly are\, beyond the surface-level appearance of phenomena..\nTransformation of perspective: Instead of viewing difficulties as obstacles\, you begin to see them as opportunities for spiritual growth and a means of developing resilience and inner strength.\nYour Teacher\nVenerable Khadro brings years of experience teaching Buddhist philosophy and meditation in the tradition of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Her clear and practical approach makes profound Buddhist concepts accessible to modern students.

SUMMARY:Annual Course with Geshe Lhakdor: Awaken your Profound Nature by Understanding your Mind and Emotions
DESCRIPTION:Special 7-day residential course with Geshe Lhakdor! Appropriate for beginners and advanced students.\nGeshe Lhakdor is renowned for his inspiring\, down to earth and humorous teaching style\, making the ancient Buddhist philosophy and science of mind applicable to a 21st century audience. \nThe topic of this course will be the Cycle of Existence – negative emotions\, karma and the twelve links of dependent origination. \nAs Geshe la often mentions\, “the real troublemakers in our lives are the countless negative emotions in us. Not only do they hinder us in achieving the lasting happiness of liberation and enlightenment\, they also don’t allow us to have peace and happiness in this life. The reason to do dharma practice is to fight with these negative emotions.” \nThis course will explain cyclic existence or samsara – meaning our body and mind circling in the various realms under the influence of afflictions and karma – by using the Wheel of Life\, a visual illustration of the twelve links of dependent arising. These instances of samsara represent suffering and the cause of our suffering\, where these negative emotions come from\, and practice methods which will eventually lead us to liberation from cyclic existence.\nLearning about the process of entering samsara offers us a marvellous insight into how to reverse samsara. In this way\, the Wheel of Life becomes an incredible tool to awaken our profound nature and end the vicious cycle of suffering and attain the everlasting happiness of liberation and enlightenment.

SUMMARY:Less Desire\, Less Pain – The Art of Satisfaction led by Venerable Thubten Wangdu
DESCRIPTION:3-day non-residential course led by Venerable Thubten WangduOpen to all levels of practitioners: beginners and experienced alike. \nNo desire means no emotional pain of attachment\, anger and jealousy. There is peace\, openness and space for genuine love and compassion to arise. – Lama Zopa Rinpoche \nBuddhism aims to provide methods for us to become more genuinely happy human beings—to cultivate a sense of contentment that is lasting. This derives from understanding our own minds and clearly seeing how things are. From the buddhist perspective\, our repeated experiences of dissatisfaction and frustration do not have external conditions as their root cause\, but all mental problems come from the dissatisfied mind. \nIn this course we will take a look at the Buddha’s teaching on how our own attachment-desire keeps us imprisoned in a state of dissatisfaction and how we have the potential to completely break free from that. We will also learn methods on how to tap into our potential for lasting peace and fulfilment through the power of study\, reflection and meditation.
