Venerable Thubten Wangdu is an Austrian monk who has been involved in the study and practice of Tibetan Buddhism since 2012. He currently serves as the Resident Teacher at Tushita Meditation Centre in Dharamsala, India, a position he has held since February 2023.
Ven. Wangdu completed the 5-year residential FPMT Basic Program of Buddhist Philosophy at Nalanda Monastery in France in 2022, concluding his studies with a three-month lamrim retreat. His educational background provides him with a solid foundation in Buddhist philosophy and practice.
Before becoming the resident teacher, Ven. Wangdu spent two years as a resident at Tushita Dharamsala, where he led meditations in various ten-day courses. His teaching experience extends to Kopan Monastery in Nepal, where he led meditations for the one-month November Courses in 2019 and 2022.
In addition to his responsibilities at Tushita, Ven. Wangdu regularly gives Dharma talks and leads meditations for the Austrian FPMT Centre in Vienna. His teaching style emphasizes clarity and practical application of Buddhist principles.
Ven. Wangdu was ordained as a monk in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition in 2022 at Kopan Monastery by Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
